Indian 10-Year Government Bond Yield Rises Amid Rate Concerns

The interest rate on an important Indian government bond went up on Monday.

Its yield rose from 7.12% to 7.19%.

This means investors may want more return for holding the bond.

The increase was linked partly to higher United States Treasury yields.

Crude oil prices also rose to about $106 a barrel.

More expensive oil can increase prices across the economy.

Investors are also considering whether the Reserve Bank of India might raise interest rates.

One bank analyst said the bond yield could approach 7.61%, a level reached in June 2022.
