Delhi's CCTV Cameras: PWD Survey Reveals Faults
Imagine Delhi has lots of cameras to keep an eye on things.
But some of them aren't working.
A recent check found that almost 10,000 cameras are broken or missing.
There are about 280,000 cameras in total.
The government wants to add even more!
They're fixing the broken ones and checking where new ones are needed.
They store the video from the cameras for a month, so they can look back if they need to.
The police and other officials can watch these videos to help keep the city safe.
A PWD survey revealed nearly 9,800 non-functional CCTV cameras in Delhi.
Approximately 2.8 lakh CCTV cameras are installed across Delhi.
The Delhi government plans to install an additional 50,000 cameras.
The PWD is conducting a technical audit to address the issue.
The video footage is stored for 30 days, with backups available.
