PPP Criticises Pakistan Fuel Policy, Seeks Consumer Relief

The Pakistan Peoples Party says the country’s fuel-pricing rules are hurting ordinary people.

It says fuel prices change often, making it harder for families to plan their spending.

The party also says higher fuel costs are helping push up the prices of everyday goods.

A PPP representative alleged that dealer-margin increases added Rs 2.68 per litre to petrol and diesel prices.

He also said the government collects too much through a petroleum levy.

The party claims that global oil-price increases are quickly passed on to consumers.

However, it says global price decreases are not fully reflected in local fuel prices.

The PPP wants the government to change the system so consumers benefit when international oil prices fall.
