Mankatha Re-Release Beats Ghilli
Mankatha, a popular Tamil movie starring Ajith Kumar, is coming back to theaters after 15 years.
Before its release, it sold more tickets in advance than any other re-released movie in Tamil Nadu, even beating a record held by Vijay's movie Ghilli.
The movie is about a clever cop who gets involved in a big robbery.
The director shared an old photo of Ajith and Vijay from the movie set, reminding everyone of the fun times they had making it.
People are excited to watch it again!
The re-release is also causing a lot of buzz and is seen as a big competition for new movies.
Mankatha re-releases in theaters on January 23, 2026, marking Ajith Kumar's 50th film.
The film breaks the previous re-release pre-sales record held by Ghilli with Rs 2.20 crore in advance bookings.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, Mankatha is an action thriller about a suspended cop involved in a high-stakes heist.
Ghilli, starring Vijay, had previously held the record for the highest-grossing re-release in Tamil Nadu.
