KGMU Receives Patent for Infant Urine Collection Device
Imagine babies need their pee collected for doctors to check if they are healthy.
It's tricky because current methods aren't perfect.
Doctors at KGMU came up with a clever new tool.
They created a special connector that links a regular adult urine bag to the tiny feeding tube babies use.
This is much easier and cleaner than what was done before, like taping things together, which could cause problems.
The new tool makes it easier to get a clean sample, so doctors can catch any health issues early.
It uses things already available in hospitals and is easy to use.
KGMU obtained a design registration patent for an infant feeding tube (IFT) uro bag connector.
The device is designed for collecting urine from babies.
The connector allows the use of standard adult uro bags.
The development team comprised doctors and engineers.
A utility patent is also pending.
