BEST, Olectra Clash Over Power Dues, Bus Service Disruption
Mumbai’s BEST bus service had a problem because the power to charge electric buses was cut off at some depots.
Olectra, the company that runs the buses, says BEST didn’t pay its electricity bills on time, which caused the cut.
BEST says Olectra didn’t pay the bills to the power company even though it got money from BEST.
Because of the power cut, 22 of 63 electric buses at one depot couldn’t be used.
Olectra says it has been waiting for 30% of its payments since April 2026, which is hurting its finances.
BEST bus services in Mumbai were partially disrupted due to power supply cuts at depots.
Olectra claims delayed payments from BEST caused the power disconnection.
BEST alleges Olectra failed to pay electricity bills to Adani Power despite receiving monthly payments.
22 of 63 electric buses at Majiwada depot could not be deployed because they could not charge.
Olectra says 30% of its monthly payments have been pending since April 2026, creating financial stress.
