New Pick-Up Fee at Bengaluru Airport
The airport in Bengaluru has started charging taxi companies a fee to pick up passengers from a special area.
This area is called the premium pick-up zone at Terminal 1.
The fee is Rs 275 for the first 10 minutes.
If the taxi stays longer, they have to pay more money.
The airport says this is a test of the new service.
Taxi drivers might not be happy about this new fee.
BIAL has introduced a Rs 275 fee for corporate taxis using the premium pick-up area at Terminal 1 of KIA.
The fee applies for the first 10 minutes, with an additional Rs 150 charged for every extra 5 minutes.
The premium pick-up point is located at the fifth lane in the departures area of Terminal 1.
This is part of a 'soft launch' of the premium facility at Terminal 1.
The new fee has triggered protests from cab drivers.
