Karnataka High Court Lifts Ban on Bike Taxis
The Karnataka High Court has decided to lift the ban on bike taxi services in the state.
This means companies like Ola and Uber can start their bike taxi services again.
However, they must follow certain rules set by the government.
The court had previously stopped these services in June 2025, but now they can operate again if they get permission.
The court said that bike owners or companies must ask for permission to use their bikes for transport, and the government has to give approval according to the law.
This decision was made after the companies appealed against the earlier ban.
Many bike taxi riders were happy because the ban had made it hard for them to earn money.
They had even protested and asked politicians to help them.
The Karnataka High Court lifted the ban on bike taxi services, allowing them to resume operations.
The division bench quashed the single-bench order that had previously prohibited bike taxis.
Uber welcomed the court's decision, recognizing bike taxis as a legal mode of passenger transport.
The decision is expected to bring relief to lakhs of drivers who depend on bike taxis for their livelihood.
Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has not yet reviewed the order and will comment after doing so.
