Telangana Nurses Seek Clinical Representation in Proposed Nursing Directorate

Telangana is planning to create a new nursing directorate.

The Telangana Nurses Association wants nurses who work directly with patients to have a strong voice in it.

It says there are 16,101 clinical nursing posts out of 16,898 nursing posts in the state.

Clinical nurses include staff nurses, nursing officers and several supervisory positions.

They manage wards, staff schedules, emergencies and nursing standards.

The association wants the government to speak with nursing groups before making final decisions.

It also wants serving clinical nursing officers to be consulted.

The government is studying how nursing directorates work in other states.
