Trump Criticizes South Korea Over Declined Iran Help Request

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, called the President of South Korea, Lee Jae Myung, and asked if South Korea would help the US with a military operation in Iran.

South Korea said no.

President Trump was not happy about that.

He reminded South Korea that the US has 39,000 soldiers there to protect it from North Korea.

He said the US spends billions of dollars to protect South Korea and other countries.

President Trump also told his Secretary of War to make the joint military exercises with South Korea much smaller.

He thinks the exercises are too expensive and make North Korea feel threatened.

South Korea says it is still talking with the US about how to help with peace talks for Iran and keeping ships safe in the Strait of Hormuz.
