India Issues One Crore E-Passports
India has started giving out special passports called e-passports.
These are like regular passports but have a tiny chip inside that stores your picture and fingerprints.
This makes them more secure.
About 1 crore e-passports have been given out since May 2023.
The government plans to replace all regular passports with e-passports by 2035.
The chip in the e-passport helps in quick and safe travel because it follows international rules.
You don't need to change your old passport right now, but new passports will all be e-passports.
India has issued 1 crore e-passports since May 2023.
E-passports contain an RFID chip and antenna for storing biometric data.
The chip stores encrypted photographs and fingerprints.
All existing passports will be replaced by e-passports by 2035.
E-passports comply with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards.
