Bandipora Police Enforces Community Service for Public Intoxication
In Bandipora, India, three people were caught being drunk in public.
Instead of fines or jail, a judge told them to do community service.
This means they have to help the community by doing work without getting paid.
This new approach is part of a change in the law called the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which started on July 1, 2024.
The BNS wants to help people learn from their mistakes and become better citizens.
The police are also trying to stop people from using drugs and causing trouble, especially young people.
Three individuals were apprehended for public intoxication in Bandipora.
The court ordered community service as a corrective punishment.
Community service is a part of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
BNS replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on July 1, 2024.
The police are committed to maintaining public order and a drug-free society.
