ICC Revises Powerplay Rules for Shortened T20 Matches
The ICC has made new rules for T20 cricket, especially for games shortened due to weather or other reasons.
These rules specify the exact number of overs that will be powerplay, where fewer fielders are allowed outside a certain area.
The shorter the game, the fewer powerplay overs there are.
For example, in an eight-over innings, there will be just over two overs of powerplay.
ICC announced new powerplay rules for shortened T20 matches.
The rules define the number of powerplay overs based on the innings length.
For an eight-over innings, 2.2 overs will be powerplay.
For a nine-over innings, 2.4 overs will be powerplay.
These rules are effective from July 2, 2024.
