Lokpal Seeks More Time in Mahua Moitra Case
The Lokpal of India asked the Delhi High Court for more time to make a new decision about a case involving Mahua Moitra, a member of parliament.
The court had earlier said the Lokpal made mistakes and needed to look at the case again.
The Lokpal said they needed two more months because they couldn't finish the work in one month.
The court agreed and set a new date for January 23, 2026.
Mahua Moitra had argued that the Lokpal didn't properly consider her side of the story.
The CBI, which is investigating the case, said the Lokpal followed the law correctly.
The case is about allegations that Moitra took money to ask questions in parliament.
Lokpal seeks two-month extension from Delhi High Court to reconsider sanction against Mahua Moitra.
Delhi High Court had earlier set aside the Lokpal's order granting sanction to CBI to file a chargesheet against Moitra.
Court directed Lokpal to reconsider the matter afresh and take a reasoned decision within one month.
Moitra argued that her submissions were not properly examined and the wrong section of the act was invoked.
CBI opposed Moitra's plea, maintaining that the Lokpal acted in accordance with the law.
