SC Dismisses YouTuber's Plea to Unseal Office
A YouTuber named Savukku Shankar went to the Supreme Court to ask them to unseal his office in Chennai and give back his devices that were taken by the police.
The Supreme Court said no and told him to go to a lower court instead.
Earlier, the Madras High Court had also said no to his request and told him to go to the magistrate.
Shankar was arrested because the police said he extorted money from a film producer.
The high court had given him bail because they thought his freedom was being taken away too many times.
The Supreme Court dismissed Savukku Shankar's plea to unseal his office and return his seized devices.
The court directed him to approach the jurisdictional magistrate under Sections 105–107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
The Madras High Court had earlier declined to stay the sealing order and directed Shankar to approach the magistrate.
Shankar was arrested on December 13, 2025, and booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for alleged extortion.
The Madras High Court had granted interim bail to Shankar on health grounds in 17 criminal cases.
