MSCI Index Rejig Impacts Indian Stocks
MSCI, a company that makes stock market indexes, is making some changes to its India index.
This means some Indian companies will be added or removed from the index, and others will have their importance in the index increased or decreased.
When a company is added to the index, it usually gets more money from investors who follow the index.
When a company is removed, it might lose money.
Four companies are being added: Fortis Healthcare, Paytm, GE Vernova T&D India, and Siemens Energy India.
Two companies are being removed: Tata Elxsi and CONCOR.
Some companies will have their importance in the index increased, like Asian Paints, and others will have it decreased, like Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.
These changes can make the stock prices of these companies go up or down.
Four Indian companies (Fortis Healthcare, Paytm, GE Vernova T&D India, Siemens Energy India) added to MSCI India Standard Index, expected to attract significant inflows.
Tata Elxsi and CONCOR removed from MSCI India Standard Index, expected to face outflows.
Eight companies (Asian Paints, Alkem Laboratories, Apollo Hospitals, Lupin, Jubilant FoodWorks, SRF, Suzlon Energy, Yes Bank) to see weight increase, potentially drawing more passive flows.
Six companies (Samvardhana Motherson, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, REC, Bharat Forge, Colgate-Palmolive India) to face weight cut, leading to outflows.
India Smallcap Index sees additions (ACC, Honeywell Automation India, Leela Palaces Hotels, Blue Jet Healthcare) and removals (Restaurant Brands Asia, Rain Industries, Raymond, Balaji Amines, Quess Corp).
