Padikkal's 167 lifts India to 460-9 in rain-hit Galle Test

India and Sri Lanka are playing a special kind of cricket game called a Test match, which lasts for several days.

On the second day of the game, in the city of Galle, it rained a lot and players had to wait in their rooms for almost four hours.

A batter named Devdutt Padikkal played amazingly well and scored 167 runs, the most he has ever scored in this format of the game.

He hit the ball hard 15 times to the boundary rope and once all the way over it for six runs.

His teammate KL Rahul scored 82 runs, and Dhruv Jurel made a quick 51.

But Sri Lanka's bowlers did not give up.

Prabath Jayasuriya and a new bowler named Keshara Nuwantha together took seven wickets.

Because of this, India could not score as many runs as they wanted and finished the day with 460 runs for 9 wickets.

Two Indian players were still at the crease when play stopped, so the team might choose to stop batting the next morning.

The rain has made it tricky, but both teams are still fighting to get ahead in the match.
