Delhi High Court Upholds Rs 1.70 Crore Accident Compensation

Satish Chandra Gupta was riding in the back of a car in 2014.

The car swerved to avoid a dog and hit a road divider.

Gupta was badly hurt and remained in a coma until he died in 2020.

His family asked a tribunal for compensation, and it awarded them Rs 1.70 crore.

The insurance company challenged that decision in court.

The Delhi High Court said drivers must keep control of their vehicles and take reasonable care, even when something unexpected happens.

It rejected the insurance company’s appeal.

The court ordered the insurer to deposit the remaining half of the compensation so it could be paid to Gupta’s wife.
