BJP Urges West Bengal to Bid for Chemical Park
Samik Bhattacharya, a BJP leader in West Bengal, wrote to the chief minister asking the state to build a big chemical park.
The government can get a grant of up to Rs 1,000 crore from the central government if it gives 2,000 acres of land and spends Rs 500 crore.
He suggested four places: Singur, Haldia, Raghunathpur, and Durgapur.
The park could create many jobs and help other businesses like farming and cars.
The chief minister said he will look into the idea.
BJP West Bengal president Samik Bhattacharya urged CM Suvendu Adhikari to set up a chemical park under the BHAVYA Rasayan scheme.
The scheme offers up to Rs 1,000 crore grant per park, requiring 2,000 acres of land and Rs 500 crore state contribution.
Bhattacharya identified Singur, Haldia, Raghunathpur, and Durgapur as potential sites, citing Singur’s industrial history.
The proposal aims to create jobs, attract private investment, and boost downstream sectors such as agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, and electronics.
The CM has acknowledged the letter and said he will examine feasibility and site readiness.
