AgriStack: India's Digital Transformation for Farmers
AgriStack is a big digital project in India to help farmers.
It creates a special ID for each farmer, maps their land, and keeps track of what they grow.
This helps the government give farmers money, subsidies, and other help faster and more fairly.
For example, during floods in Maharashtra in 2025, the government used AgriStack to give money to farmers in just two days.
AgriStack also helps make sure that only the right farmers get benefits like subsidies and insurance.
In the future, it will help even more farmers, including those who don't own land, and give them personalized advice to grow better crops.
AgriStack is a national Digital Public Infrastructure for agriculture, creating a verifiable view of farmers, land, and crops.
It includes three registries: Farmer Registry, Geo-Referenced Village Maps Registry, and Crop Sown Registry.
AgriStack has enabled faster and more accurate delivery of benefits, such as flood relief and fertilizer subsidies.
It has been integrated with PM-KISAN, ensuring nearly half of beneficiaries are verified and new registrations require a Farmer ID.
Future plans include including non-land owning farmers, federated data exchange, and personalized advisory services.
