Mumbai FDA Suspends Eatery Licences After Food Safety Violations

Mumbai’s food safety officials inspected several eateries on September 8 and 9.

They found problems such as insects, dirty areas, unsafe food storage and poor ventilation.

At one eatery, ants were found in semolina and raw meat was left uncovered.

Some kitchens also did not properly separate raw food from cooked food.

The FDA suspended the establishments’ food licences or registrations.

The article says six places were affected but lists seven establishments.

The FDA also asked organisers of community meals to give advance notice.

Organisers must provide safe water, keep food at safe temperatures and maintain cleanliness.
