Jumbo Feast For Elephants On World Elephant Day
World Elephant Day is a special day to celebrate and learn about elephants.
On Wednesday, Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad joined the celebration.
The zoo has four elephants named Vanaja, Asha, Sita and Vijay.
The elephants were treated to a special feast of fresh fruits, vegetables and cooked rice.
Each elephant got its own big cake that weighed about five kilograms.
Animal keepers, the feed store and the zoo kitchen staff helped make the cakes.
The elephants also went for a long walk of about five kilometres around the zoo.
Visitors were allowed to get closer to the elephants.
People who came were told facts about elephants and why they are important to nature.
Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad celebrated World Elephant Day on Wednesday.
Elephants Vanaja, Asha, Sita and Vijay were treated to fresh fruits, vegetables and specially made cakes.
Each elephant received a jumbo cake of approximately 5 kg made of fruits, vegetables and cooked rice.
The elephants were taken out of their enclosure and walked around 5 km within the zoo premises.
Visitors were allowed closer to the animals and were told about elephants' importance in the ecosystem.
