Telugu-Origin Man Arrested in $55M Fraud Targeting Elderly
A man named Radhakrishna Yerramneni, who is from Telugu origin, was arrested in Texas for being part of a big fraud.
This fraud targeted older people and took more than $55 million from them.
The police raided two jewelry stores and found a lot of gold and cash.
They think these stores were used to hide the stolen money.
Radhakrishna and four other people were arrested.
The police are still investigating and have returned some money to the victims.
They say it's hard to solve these crimes because older people are often scared or ashamed to report them.
Radhakrishna Yerramneni, a 46-year-old Telugu-origin man, was arrested for a $55 million fraud targeting elderly residents in Texas.
Raids were conducted on Tilak Jewellers in Irving and Saima Jewellers in Frisco, seizing gold and cash as evidence.
Five people, including Yerramneni, were arrested for financial exploitation of the elderly and large-scale theft.
The fraud affected around 200 senior citizens in Collin County alone, with losses estimated over $7 million.
Authorities have recovered over $400,000 and expect more to be returned after selling seized assets.
