Kerala Schools Shut in Nine Districts Amid Heavy Rain
The state of Kerala in India had a lot of rain on Sunday.
Because the rain could make places flood and make it dangerous, the local governments decided to keep all schools and colleges closed on Monday.
They did this in nine districts to keep students and teachers safe.
The India Meteorological Department said there might be more heavy rain, so people were told to stay careful and not travel if the roads were flooded.
Nine Kerala districts declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Monday.
The closure covers schools, colleges, professional colleges, anganwadis and tuition centres.
The India Meteorological Department placed all 14 districts under a yellow alert for heavy rain.
Rainfall forecast for isolated places is 7–11 cm in 24 hours.
Authorities warned residents to avoid travel through flooded areas and stay alert for landslides.
