Sudan Army Breaks Siege of Al-Dalanj
The Sudanese army recently broke a long siege on the city of al-Dalanj, which had been under attack by a group called the RSF.
People in the city were very hungry and many died because they couldn't get food or medicine.
Some had to eat leaves and animal skin to survive.
The army says they successfully opened a road to the city, but the RSF hasn't said anything about it.
The UN is worried about the situation and has warned both sides not to repeat the mistakes made in other places.
Many people have had to leave their homes because of the fighting and hunger.
Sudan’s army claims to have broken the siege of al-Dalanj, a city in South Kordofan province, after a successful military operation.
Residents reported severe hunger, with some eating leaves and animal skin, and children dying from lack of food and medicine.
Over 25,000 people have been displaced from South Kordofan since the RSF captured al-Fashir in October.
The UN has warned both the Sudanese army and RSF to prevent the repetition of crimes committed during the takeover of al-Fashir.
Famine conditions have been declared in Kadugli, and al-Dalanj is likely experiencing similar conditions, though data is scarce due to the siege.
