Tigress Translocated to Rajasthan via Air Force Helicopter
A 3-year-old tigress was moved from Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh to Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan using an Indian Air Force helicopter.
This is the first time a big cat has been moved between states from Madhya Pradesh.
The tigress was tracked for a month using special cameras and was checked by doctors before the move.
Rajasthan needed new tigresses to help their tiger population stay healthy.
More tigers will be moved to different states in the future.
The operation involved close coordination between the Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan Forest Departments, with experts ensuring the tigress's safe journey.
A 3-year-old tigress was airlifted from Pench Tiger Reserve to Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan using an MI-17 helicopter.
This is the first interstate translocation of a big cat from Madhya Pradesh to Rajasthan.
The tigress was tracked for a month using 50 motion-sensor cameras and was tranquilized before the move.
The translocation was requested by Rajasthan to improve the gene pool and safeguard the tiger population due to inbreeding problems.
