African Leaders Seek Colonial Crime Recognition and Reparations

African leaders met in Algiers to talk about the bad things that happened during colonial times.

They want other countries to officially say that these actions were wrong and to pay money to make up for it.

Algeria, which was ruled by France, said that this is very important because the effects of colonialism are still felt today.

They also talked about how European countries took a lot of valuable things from Africa and how some of these items are still in museums in Europe.

Algeria also mentioned the Western Sahara, which is still a disputed area, and said it should be independent.

France has acknowledged some of the bad things that happened but has not officially apologized.
