Karnataka Court Criticizes Police Over FIR Against Doctor
A judge in Karnataka said the police acted unfairly when they filed a complaint against a doctor who helped find a suspected illegal immigrant.
The judge said the complaint was made just 15 minutes after the police told the immigration office about the immigrant, so it looked like revenge.
He also said there was no proof of injury or a hospital record.
The judge warned that if the police keep helping illegal immigrants, more could come.
The court stopped the investigation for now and asked the state to show the police records.
Karnataka High Court criticized Bengaluru Police for filing an FIR against a doctor who helped identify a suspected illegal Bangladeshi immigrant.
The court found the FIR was filed 15 minutes after the police notified the FRRO, labeling it a retaliatory "counter-blast."
Justice M Nagaprasanna questioned the lack of evidence, noting no injuries or hospital records to support assault allegations.
The court warned that supporting illegal immigrants could lead to their proliferation and threaten national security.
The investigation was stayed pending further hearing and the state was ordered to submit relevant records.
