Tibetan youth rally in Gangtok protests China's Ethnic Unity Law

Tibetan youth rally in Gangtok protests China's Ethnic Unity Law

A group of Tibetan young people held a peaceful protest in a city called Gangtok.

They wanted people around the world to know about what is happening in Tibet.

Tibet is a place that many Tibetan people say is their home.

The protesters disagreed with a new Chinese law, called the 'Ethnic Unity Law', which they say could make Tibetans lose their culture and language.

They worried that Tibetan traditions, religion and identity might disappear.

During the protest, they remembered a man named Lobga Rangzen who they say hurt himself in front of the United Nations building to get attention for Tibet.

They asked world leaders and the United Nations to help protect Tibetan rights.

They also asked for people who are in prison for their beliefs to be set free.

The protest was peaceful, and the organisers said they want to spread their message in calm and non-violent ways.
