Ramanujan's First Papers Published in Pune Journal
Srinivasa Ramanujan, a famous mathematician, started his career by publishing his first paper in a journal called the Journal of the Indian Mathematical Society (JIMS) in Pune.
This journal was started by V Ramaswami Aiyar in 1907.
Ramanujan's first paper was published in 1911, and he went on to publish many more papers in this journal.
One of his notable works was an approximate solution to the problem of Squaring the Circle, which was very accurate.
The Indian Mathematical Society, which publishes JIMS, has faced some operational challenges but continues to be respected in the mathematical community.
They are planning to build a new office called Ganit Bavan in Pune.
Srinivasa Ramanujan published his first paper, 'Some properties of Bernoulli’s numbers,' in the Journal of the Indian Mathematical Society (JIMS) in 1911.
Ramanujan published at least 10 more papers in JIMS over the next eight years, covering topics like simultaneous equations and the sum of series.
In 1913, Ramanujan published a highly accurate approximate solution to the problem of Squaring the Circle in JIMS.
The Indian Mathematical Society (IMS) was founded in 1907 by V Ramaswami Aiyar and is headquartered in Pune.
IMS faces operational challenges but continues to publish respected journals and plans to build a new office, Ganit Bavan, in Pune.
