Tata Sons Reports Lower Profit, Revenue, Yet Raises Dividends
Imagine Tata Sons is like a big piggy bank.
Last year, the piggy bank had a lot of money, but this year, it has less, around 24% less!
The money the company made also went down.
Even though the money in the piggy bank went down, the people in charge of the company, including the Chairman, decided to give away more money to people who own shares of the company.
It's like saying 'Even though we have less money, we'll give you more!'
They made more money last year by selling some of the company's things.
Tata Sons' standalone net profit decreased by 24.30% to Rs 26,231.74 crore for the year ending March 2025.
Total revenue for FY25 fell by 11.52% to Rs 38,834.58 crore.
The previous year's revenue included a profit of Rs 9,375.66 crore from the sale of investments.
Despite lower profits, the company's directors recommended a higher dividend.
The proposed dividend is Rs 64,900 per share (6,490%), up from Rs 35,000 (3,500%) in the previous year.
