Government Offers Land at ₹1 for Shipbuilding Clusters
The Indian government is offering land at a very low cost to companies that want to build or repair ships in India.
This is part of a special plan called the greenfield shipbuilding cluster development scheme.
The land will be given to a special group that includes both the central and state governments.
If the government doesn't have enough land, the state government will buy more land to give to these companies.
This is to encourage more businesses to invest in making and fixing ships in India.
Government offers land at ₹1 for shipbuilding and repair facilities under the greenfield shipbuilding cluster development scheme.
Land will be transferred to a special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up as a joint venture of state and central governments or wholly owned by the central government.
State governments to acquire land at their own cost if government land is unavailable.
This is in addition to any industrial/maritime policy support provided by the state government.
Aim is to attract investments in shipbuilding and repair facilities in India.
