RTI Activist Arrested for Extortion Attempt on Andhra MP
A man named Rushant Jaykumar Wadke, who calls himself an RTI activist, was arrested in Mumbai.
He tried to extort ₹5 crore from an MP from Andhra Pradesh by threatening to share information he got through RTI applications.
When the MP's assistant went to talk to him, Wadke threatened him with a knife and stole ₹70,000.
The police found out about Wadke's plan and arrested him with the help of a team from Andhra Pradesh.
The police are still investigating to find out if there were other people involved.
