Kerala and Assam Electoral Roll Controversies
In Kerala, the Chief Electoral Officer said that everyone who is eligible to vote will be included in the voter list.
He also warned some media outlets against spreading false information that could scare people.
He explained that people who miss the deadline to submit their forms can still add their names later.
In Assam, the Congress party said that some people from other states are being added to the voter list unfairly.
They think this is being done to help the ruling party win the elections.
The Chief Minister said that the Election Commission is in charge of the voter list and people should use the right ways to raise their concerns instead of protesting.
Kerala's CEO assured that all eligible voters will be included in the electoral rolls and warned against misinformation.
In Assam, the Congress party alleged the inclusion of 'temporary voters' from other states, calling it an attempt to rig the elections.
The BJP dismissed the Congress allegations as bogus and the Assam Chief Minister advised using institutional mechanisms for objections.
Kerala's draft electoral roll includes over 2.54 crore voters, with 24.08 lakh names removed, sparking political reactions.
Assam's draft voter list shows a 1.35% increase in voters, with the final list to be published on February 10.
