Sun Pharma Misses Q1 Estimates Amid US Generics Weakness
Sun Pharma is a big drug company in India.
In the first quarter of its fiscal year, it made more money than last year, but not as much as analysts expected.
The company sold fewer generic drugs in the United States because of lower prices and more competition.
It sold more medicines in India and new, innovative drugs, which helped a lot.
Even with these good sales, the company still missed the profit numbers that investors were hoping for.
Revenue rose 10.5% YoY to ₹15,299 crore but missed analyst expectations.
Net profit increased 27% to ₹2,895 crore, still below estimates.
US generics sales fell 9.7% YoY, hurting profitability.
Domestic India business grew 16% YoY, contributing 36% of revenue.
Innovative medicines grew 12.8% YoY, offsetting some US decline.
