Fasting Before Bed May Help Preserve Memory

Researchers found that eating within a 9-hour window and fasting for 4 hours before bed might help keep your brain sharp as you get older.

They did a study with 47 women who were overweight or obese.

Half of them ate their meals within a 9-hour window, and the other half ate over 12 hours.

Both groups lost about the same amount of weight, but the women who ate within the 9-hour window did better on tests that measured their ability to plan and solve problems.

They also made fewer mistakes on memory tests.

Experts think that eating within a shorter window might help with recalling information and reducing errors in attention and problem-solving.

They believe this could be because of how meal timing affects metabolism, inflammation, and our body's internal clock.

Eating over a longer period, like 14 hours, is common in countries like the UK and the US, but finishing meals earlier in the day might help with weight and overall health.
