Telangana Penalizes Colleges as Adilabad Airport Project Advances
Officials in Telangana found problems at many private junior colleges.
Because of these problems, 300 colleges were fined more than ₹2.5 crore in total.
The problems included admitting students without permission and not having enough teachers or facilities.
Forty-five colleges were each fined ₹8 lakh for submitting fake fire safety documents.
Officials said inspections will continue to check whether colleges follow the rules.
Separately, a proposed airport project in Adilabad has moved forward.
Government ministries have appointed officers to coordinate the project.
The airport is planned for both civilian use and Air Force training.
It would include aircraft parking, hangars, training facilities and maintenance buildings.
The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education fined 300 private junior colleges more than ₹2.5 crore for violating affiliation and operational norms.
Inspections identified unauthorized admissions, illegal operations, staff shortages, inadequate laboratories and libraries, and timetable violations.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said the Defence and Civil Aviation ministries appointed nodal officers to accelerate Adilabad’s proposed joint-user airport.
The airport project is intended to support both civil and defence operations, including an Air Force training centre and related infrastructure.
