Indian Startups Show Revenue Growth, Mixed Profitability in FY25
Imagine a group of 43 young businesses in India.
In the last year, they made a lot more money than the year before, with their total earnings going up by over a third.
Most of these businesses, about 28 of them, are now making a profit, which is good news!
However, some businesses, about 15 of them, are still losing money, and their total losses are quite large.
This situation shows that while many companies are getting better at earning money and cutting costs after some tough times, others are still finding it hard to become profitable.
The goal is for more companies to make money and fewer to lose it.
Indian startups' cumulative operating revenue reached INR 1.26 Lakh Cr in FY25, a 36.4% increase from FY24.
In FY25, 28 out of 43 tracked companies reported a cumulative net profit of INR 4,577 Cr.
Conversely, 15 companies reported a cumulative net loss of INR 8,086.4 Cr in FY25.
The "funding winter" of 2022 has pushed startups towards focusing on profitability and reducing expenses.
This trend of improving profitability and reducing losses is expected to continue for Indian startups in FY25.
