Pivovarov's Documentary Explores Colonial Legacy

Alexey Pivovarov, a famous Russian journalist, made a documentary called 'From Slaves to Bond' for YouTube in 2025.

It talks about how the British Empire took things from other countries and how that affects those countries today.

The documentary started when Ethiopian leaders asked Britain to return items taken during a war in the 1800s.

While making the film, Pivovarov learned that the British Museum has many of these stolen items.

He also found out that the British Empire built things like railways and buildings to help themselves, not the people who lived there.

The film shows how some people think Britain should pay back or forgive debts to former colonies.

Pivovarov says the film doesn't tell people what to think but shows different views on this history.

He also says that even in Britain, people are starting to understand that they should treat former colonies more fairly.
