Mohun Bagan Banned for Refusing Iran Match

Mohun Bagan Banned for Refusing Iran Match

Mohun Bagan, an Indian football team, was banned from playing in Asian Football Confederation (AFC) competitions until 2027-28.

They were also fined over $100,000.

This happened because the team refused to play a match in Iran.

They said they didn't go because they weren't sure it was safe and didn't have the right insurance.

The AFC said the team has to pay for the damages and losses caused by not playing.

Mohun Bagan might try to appeal this decision.

They also didn't play a match in Iran last year for similar reasons.

The team has players from countries that advise against traveling to Iran, which added to their concerns.
