Georgian ex-PM sentenced to five years

Irakli Garibashvili, who was the Prime Minister of Georgia, has been sentenced to five years in prison.

He admitted to doing something illegal called money laundering, which involves hiding where money comes from.

The police found a lot of money, about $6.5 million, in his house.

This is the first time someone important in the government has been punished like this.

The government is also punishing other people who disagree with them.

Some people think this is unfair, but the government says they are just following the law.

Georgia used to be friends with Western countries, but now they are not as close because of some political changes.
