West Bengal Anti-Goonda Bill Remains With Home Ministry

West Bengal Anti-Goonda Bill Remains With Home Ministry

West Bengal has made a bill to give the state more power to fight serious public problems.

Some reports said President Droupadi Murmu sent the bill back.

Suvendu Adhikari said that report was false.

He said the bill has not yet reached the President.

It is still being examined by the Union Home Ministry.

The reports mentioned possible overlap with a national anti-narcotics law.

The bill was passed by the West Bengal assembly in June.

It covers issues such as organised crime, extortion, illegal mining, cybercrime and public disorder.

Adhikari said the bill was clear and hoped the President would approve it.
