Bengaluru Stadium Plan Draws Protests Over Connectivity, Wildlife Risks

Bengaluru Stadium Plan Draws Protests Over Connectivity, Wildlife Risks

Bengaluru may get a new cricket stadium with room for 80,000 people.

The proposed site is near Bannerghatta National Park.

The idea came after a stampede at Chinnaswamy in June 2025 killed 11 people.

Some young cricket fans welcome the plan.

Many residents and conservationists are worried about it.

They say the roads and trains are not good enough for large crowds.

They also fear loud noise and construction could disturb animals.

The metro currently ends far from Anekal.

Supporters and opponents therefore disagree about whether the stadium should be built before better connections and safeguards are provided.
