Indian Coast Guard Rescues Injured Iranian Fisherman 1,500km Offshore
Imagine a fisherman from Iran got hurt really badly on his boat far out in the sea, like super far from land.
His boat also had a problem and stopped working.
People in India heard he needed help and sent a big ship, the Indian Coast Guard, to rescue him.
Another ship, a big oil tanker, also stopped to help first.
They carefully moved the hurt fisherman to the Indian Coast Guard ship.
Now, the Indian Coast Guard ship is taking him to a hospital in India to get better.
This shows India is willing to help people in trouble even when they are very far away in the ocean.
Indian Coast Guard conducted a long-range medical evacuation of an Iranian fisherman.
The fisherman, Allah Baksh, sustained serious eye and ear injuries from an onboard explosion.
The rescue operation took place in the Arabian Sea, approximately 1500km from Kochi.
Assistance was coordinated by MRCC Mumbai and involved the ICG Ship Sachet and a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker, MT STI Grace.
The injured fisherman is currently receiving treatment onboard the ICG Ship Sachet en route to Goa for further medical care.
