Bombay High Court Restores Mother’s Custody, Rejects Stereotypical Reasoning

Bombay High Court Restores Mother’s Custody, Rejects Stereotypical Reasoning

The Bombay High Court decided that a mother should keep looking after her young son for now.

The boy has been living with her in Pune since March 2025.

His father lives in Singapore and had asked to take custody of him there.

A lower court had ordered that the father receive interim custody.

The High Court said that decision focused too much on the parents’ marriage problems.

It criticized comments suggesting the mother was not fulfilling traditional duties as a wife.

The court said those comments were unfair and based on stereotypes.

The father can still see the child every three months and speak with him by video at least once a week.
