GPS Life Jacket for Seafarers' Safety
A young innovator named Dadi Teja from India has created a smart life jacket called Alert24.
This life jacket has GPS and can send distress signals if a fisherman falls into the water.
It has a button for emergencies, a light for visibility at night, and a system to monitor the person's voice.
The jacket has been tested in the sea and has won an award.
There are two versions: one that works with mobile networks and costs ₹18,000, and another that uses satellites and costs ₹50,000.
The battery lasts for over 20 days.
The idea came from Teja's experience with fishermen and the dangers they face.
Alert24 smart life jacket automatically sends distress signals when a person falls into the water.
The jacket includes an emergency button, LED lamp, and voice monitoring system.
Field trials conducted with Andhra Pradesh Fisheries Department and AP Tourism.
Two versions: GSM-based (₹18,000) and satellite-integrated (₹50,000).
The jacket has received the Best Maritime Safety Product Award from the Philippine Innovation Society.
