Hyderabad Police Warns of Fake E-Challan Scams
The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have warned people about a new type of cyber fraud.
Scammers are sending fake messages saying you have a traffic fine (called an e-challan) and asking you to pay through a link.
This link looks like an official government website, but it's fake.
When you click it, bad software can be installed on your phone, or your bank details can be stolen.
The police say one person lost a lot of money (around Rs 6 lakh) after clicking one of these fake links.
They advise everyone to only pay fines through the official government website and not to click on any links sent via SMS or WhatsApp.
Always keep your phone updated with the latest security to stay safe.
Cyber fraudsters are sending fake e-challan payment links via SMS and WhatsApp.
Links mimic official government websites to deceive users.
Clicking the link can install malware or steal banking credentials.
A victim lost approximately Rs 6 lakh after clicking a fake link.
Police advise using only official portals (echallan.parivahan.gov.in) for payments.
