High-Fat Cheese Linked to Lower Dementia Risk

High-Fat Cheese Linked to Lower Dementia Risk

A new study found that eating high-fat cheese and cream might be good for your brain.

Researchers looked at over 27,000 people in Sweden for about 25 years.

They discovered that people who ate more high-fat cheese like cheddar, Brie, and Gouda had a lower chance of getting dementia.

This was especially true for a type of dementia called vascular dementia.

People who ate high-fat cheese also had a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease, but only if they didn't have a certain gene that makes Alzheimer's more likely.

Similarly, people who drank high-fat cream every day had a lower risk of dementia.

However, other dairy products like low-fat cheese, milk, butter, and yogurt didn't show the same benefits.

The researchers said more studies are needed to confirm these results.
