Karnataka HC Upholds Dasara Invitation to Mushtaq
The Karnataka High Court has allowed Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara festival.
This is despite some people, like former BJP MP Pratap Simha, who didn't want her to do it.
They were concerned about her past comments that they thought were against Hindu culture.
The court listened to their arguments but decided that Mushtaq could still be invited.
The festival starts on September 22nd.
The Karnataka High Court dismissed petitions challenging the invitation of Banu Mushtaq.
Former BJP MP Pratap Simha was among the petitioners.
The Mysuru district administration invited Mushtaq despite objections.
Controversy arose from statements perceived as 'anti-Hindu culture'.
