AMFI to Track Small 'Choti' SIP Collections Separately from December
Imagine you want to start saving a little bit of money each month to buy something big later.
The people who manage mutual funds in India are making it easier for you to save even small amounts, like just 250 rupees a month.
They call these small savings 'choti' SIPs.
Starting next month, they will count these small savings separately.
By January, everyone will be able to see how much money people are saving this way.
This is because a big financial group, SEBI, said it's okay to save as little as 250 rupees.
They are also making sure that only certain types of savings plans can be part of this.
They're also giving a little reward to the helpers who encourage people to save this way for a long time.
AMFI will begin tracking 'choti' SIPs (₹250/month) separately from December.
SEBI recently lowered the minimum SIP amount to ₹250 per month to expand reach.
Payment modes for small-ticket SIPs are restricted to NACH and UPI auto-pay due to transaction costs.
Intermediary incentives for 'choti' SIPs apply only to the first three plans per investor PAN.
AMCs are partially compensated for small SIP costs via the Investor Education and Awareness Fund.
